GIS Data Manager, Wexford, Ireland

We seek an experienced and skilled GIS Data Manager to join our Wexford-based team and play a senior role in data management, analysis, best practice development & sharing, liaison with business users, and task management.  You will work as part of a longstanding team focussed on environmental analysis and data sharing.

Main technical skills:

  • Strong desktop GIS (ArcGIS) analysis
  • Data management in ArcGIS Server / SQL Server
  • Good SQL database skills & SQL Management Studio
  • Skills in Python, GeoNetwork or similar skills and tools would be of benefit

Work skills:

  • Team guidance and management
  • Ordered and structured approach to work, documenting, with some experience in project management and delivery
  • Ability to liaise with technical colleagues, and non-technical colleagues on spatial data best practice and skills development

The successful candidate must have:

  • Qualification in GIS, or otherwise have excellent work experience in this area
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • At least 3 years relevant work experience
  • Environmental protection policy knowledge would be advantageous
  • Willing to be based long term in Wexford

Terms:

  • Circa 3 year initial contract, extendable to long term.

SQL Server Data Analyst: Data Analysis & Reporting – Galway, Ireland

We have a SQL Server focused data analyst role based in Galway, Ireland.  The appointed person will work with existing science and systems teams on data analysis for marine and lab data analysis.   You will be part of the Compass Informatics seconded team based on-site with a key client.  We are extending a team of data analysts and so the opportunities to apply your specific skills are great.

The role – a summary:

A data analyst with modelling and report development skills to work with a range of scientific and environmental datasets to facilitate the development of intermediary and information products. The analyst will be focused on ensuring data are appropriately processed, stored and integrated. 

The analyst will need strong knowledge and experience of manipulating data with Relational Database Management Systems, including having worked with enterprise database tools such as SQL Server and associated analysis and integration tools e.g. SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services or similar tools (e.g. Python, R). 3 years+ experience of working with enterprise database systems and / or analysis tools is required. 

Strong querying / reporting skills are essential for the role and experience of developing or working with data views and / or reporting and analysis tools to develop information products and services would be very beneficial.

You should have at least 3 years’ experience of working with enterprise database systems.

  • SQL Server 2008 upwards
  • SSRS, SSIS
  • Stong liaison skills
  • Willingness to learn of scientific data

In this role there are opportunities for interesting liaison with senior data analysts, users and scientists; exposure to data management best practice; and opportunity to devlop technical skills particularly in SQL but potentially in R and related areas.
