This is a key appointment for Compass Informatics and will be an important part of the next phase of company development and growth. Having grown at close to 20% per annum over recent years we see this sustainable growth being built on, to continue our positioning as a leading information and location technologies in Ireland and the UK.  This is another position building on the seven already filled in Compass in 2014.

The Role:

  • To build long-term links to organisations across Ireland, UK, South Africa, and to identify opportunities with them to bring Compass services and platforms to their operations.
  • To gather, interpret and document client requirements and liaise with our technology teams to deliver solutions.
  • To contribute to company development and ethos, as a forward-looking and challenge-loving team member.


  • To build on and implement a business development process.
  • To identify opportunities and prepare thorough client proposals.
  • To be capable of working effectively under occasional time and load pressures.
  • To undertake business analysis using best practice methods and tools.
  • To have a solid IT, GIS, analytics, mobile computing knowledge, or ability to gain understanding rapidly of gap areas.


We work with a range of organisations most typically in the environment, planning, heritage, transportation, asset and land management, water and wastewater areas. Clients are central government and agencies, local authorities, engineering consultancies, utilities, private land owners.

Technology use:

Compass Informatics utilises a number of platforms in its technical solutions including Microsoft (.Net, SQL Server, Azure etc.); ESRI and Open Source GIS; Trimble, Spectra and Handheld survey and mobile hardware. We utilise Agile methods supported by tools such as Team Foundation Server, Kanban, scrums.


You will be based in the Blackrock (Dublin) office with occasional travel to the UK. Level of travel will vary  but is likely to be a number of days a month as day or short trips. Remuneration will include salary, pension, health insurance, with bonus structure under consideration. Guideline salary of €50-80,000.

Consideration will be given to candidates with particularly strong potential (but must have 5+ years of work experience) as well as those with proven experience.

  • GIS & Data Analytics. Expertise in GIS data management and analysis; Statistical analysis; Data mining; Solid technical skills in database management and analysis including SQL; scripting using Python; desktop GIS and ideally ArcGIS skills, and other analysis software including Tableau or similar. Ideally client liaison, documentation, project delivery experience.
