Compass Informatics are experts at leveraging cloud computing and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies to provide cutting edge data capture, big-data analytics and peerless software solutions.
Cloud computing describes Software as a Service (SaaS), where instead of buying and installing software and hardware infrastructure, we connect to cloud services and utilise them as needed. We make extensive and appropriate use of cloud computing (AWS, Azure among others) for scalable hosting and processing infrastructure. The computing power and data storage available to us in the cloud allows us to develop extremely powerful, rich data applications that can easily and effectively be deployed across mobile and desktop devices. In simple terms cloud computing is an on-

IoT (Internet of Things) is a term for an internet enabled device, in which you might not typically expect such connectivity. For example, a humidity sensor with a 3g mobile transceiver could be used to remotely and wirelessly transmit data back to a central server. A network of such servers could be used to efficiently quickly build a picture of changing weather conditions over time. Sensor data Streaming describes the continuous output of such a device in detecting and responding to some type of input from the physical environment. The output may be used to provide information or input to another system or to guide a process. The output from such devices can build a very rich dataset that can be data-mined to create big-data analytics.
Compass Informatics are industry leading experts in data analytics and data mining.
Sensors can be used to detect just about any physical element. Sensor data is in integral component of the increasing reality of the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. In the IoT scenario, almost any entity imaginable can be outfitted with a unique identifier (UID) and the capacity to transfer data over a network. Much of the data transmitted is sensor data.
The huge volume of data produced and transmitted from sensing devices can provide huge volumes of information. The challenge is to convert that data into evidence that can inform key strategic and business decisions. At Compass we utilise highly effective sensor data streaming – building analysis tools for transportation and the environment for example. Our software development focuses on web, mobile and analytics.
