Need to accurately and efficiently map features in the field and record their attributes? Need to integrate data-collected with office systems such as databases and GIS?
Use of Global Positioning Systems, data loggers, and linked equipment such as digital cameras or barcode readers is something that Compass has been involved in for many years. We have used GPS-based systems for
diverse surveys including river habitat surveys, mapping of flood levels, and have advised on the use of such systems in many other applications including archaeology.
Neat integration of field-collected data with office GIS and databases is a key aspect of any solution. Pre-survey planning, proper structuring of attribute data dictionaries, automated linkage of photos and location information, are all elements that lead to an efficient and optimal system.
We also provide GPS hardware, software, and training services. We are suppliers of Magellan and Trimble GPS solutions. These GPS and data recording devices are rugged
and suited to many data collection tasks.
