Way back in 1995, Compass Informatics personnel designed one of the first websites in
Ireland - a community website for County Wicklow. Since then we have designed many more
popular and powerful sites. These include sites with an emphasis on graphic design, to
public information sites, to those with a strong functional element, such as scientific
data sharing sites.
Contact us also regarding our hosting services.
Here's is an overview of a selection of the sites we have designed:
A site designed in early 2007 and is already proving its worth by drawing in
sales.
BirdWatch Ireland - www.birdwatchireland.ie
This site has undergone major redevlopment by Compass and includes a full Content Management System
and database driven systems for reporting sightings of birds for various studies.
A series of interlinked websites were designed and created by
Compass, with the design template also being used in other websites including www.swrbd.ie and www.wrbd.ie.
Building on our hosting and web design and development services, our web team has recently
completed an on-line shopping cart and purchase system for Wicklow Fine Foods - a
niche fine foods manufacturer.
Quality graphic design on this website compliments searchable databases, regular news
items, and an interactive map of Irish ports. The site is currently maintained by IMDO
staff with on-going support provided by Compass Informatics.
Acting as a resource for specialists, the website provides a method for accessing and
downloading Dúchas geographical datasets in a user-friendly and bi-lingual fashion.
Designed to integrate with the main Enterprise Ireland website, the Oil & Gas section
promotes the industry in Ireland. The site includes interactive maps and downloadable
forms and reports.
The Courthouse site is one of a number of sites which illustrates the opportunities for
maintenance of a website by the non-expert as the management of the arts centre now
maintain the site - with the aid of remote support from Compass Informatics and
appropriate design and site structuring at the initial design and implementation stage.
The EU Interreg Programme supports cross-border economic, social and cultural development.
This website facilitates the formulation of proposals in Ireland and Wales for possible
funding by the Programme. It includes a facility for posting project ideas and developing
collaboration. The site has recently been revamped.
Interactive Tutorial System - Trinity College
(not publicly available)
As part of an initiative to utilise the power of information technologies in teaching,
Compass Informatics worked with staff in the Department of Geology at Trinity College,
Dublin, to develop an interactive tutorial system for a geodynamics geology course. Project
infosheet here.
This website was designed to support the EurOCEAN 2004 marine science conference, which is
to be held in Galway, Ireland in May 2004. This conference is part of the Irish EU
Presidency. The website was designed to mirror closely the brochure that has been produced
for this event.
